Patterson Postal Service

Logo

The Patterson Postal Service is a simulated in-school post office created to run like the real post office.  It was established during 2009 - 2010 school year.  It is operated by a select group of students who have successfully completed the interview process.  Mail is processed and delivered every week to Patterson students.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please contact Mr. Barnett via ParentSquare. If you are interested in how to set up your own school post office please also let me know and I would be happy to help!

Goals

The goals of the Patterson Postal Service are:

  •  To provide children with real life experiences in which to apply basic skills such as: writing a letter, addressing envelopes, using the mail system, and using ZIP codes.

  • To provide a vehicle for students to use and develop their writing skills.

  • To unify the student body through a student-centered school wide communication system.

  • To provide knowledge of how mail is processed.

  • To develop a sense of job responsibility as a postal service employee.

  • To form a link between the community and the school (Parents and family friends can send communications to their child through the school mail system.  This provides a fun way to wish students happy birthday, happy holidays, or even just send a good luck note.)

Writing to Your Child

Families can write to their Patterson children at any time throughout the school year by using the PPS.  This provides a fun way for you to wish your children a happy birthday, send a good luck note, or even just to say hello.

Keep in mind mail is only picked up and delivered Fridays before school.

If you would like to make a special delivery please email Mr. Barnett and we can make arrangements for one of our Postmasters to handle the delivery.

*** Please note ***
DO NOT send mail through the USPS, as we are not a "real" post office.
Any mail sent to Patterson children needs to be put in the front office mailbox.

Letter

Use the Patterson City Directory to find the address of your child's classroom.

All letters, notes and cards sent through the PPS must have a complete address, return address, and a "stamp".

Stamps can be made out of stickers or any other stamp like items you may have at home.  You can even hand draw a stamp.
